Overview
This conceptual rebrand explores how the Brooklyn Nets’ visual identity could be reimagined by fusing elements from the team’s 1997–2012 era with a contemporary, modern design approach. The project balances nostalgia and legacy with current sports branding expectations.
Approach
Reimagined the core brand direction by referencing the Nets’ 1997–2012 identity
Designed a secondary wordmark to complement the existing brand structure
Recreated the 1977–1990 home and away jerseys with modern proportions and detailing
Developed social media graphics aligned with the refreshed visual direction
Designed a branded hat concept to demonstrate merchandise application
Challenge
Reinterpret a globally recognized NBA franchise without losing its historical character, while creating assets that feel relevant for today’s digital-first, merchandise-driven sports landscape.
Outcome
The project demonstrates an ability to work within a legacy sports brand, blend historical references with modern execution, and apply a cohesive visual system across uniforms, merchandise, and digital media.
